Ashland Company Store is also shown in this photograph.   This historic company store building was built in 1907, and is a two-story brick commercial building on a brick and stone foundation. It has a low hipped roof. In addition to the store, the building housed a warehouse, the paymaster's office, U.S. Post Office, and company offices. The post office was in use until 1991. Also on the property is a gym building (c. 1907)

The present day Ashland Company Store is packed with essentials including Snacks, Groceries, Beer and Wine, Cigarettes, ATV Supplies, RV Supplies, Riding Gloves and Helmets and much more!  Located inside the Company Store is the Coal Camp Café which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Hours vary by the season.

Above is a Feb. 2, 1943 story in the Bluefield Daily Telegraph describing the Ashland company store fire.  It states in the article that the company offices and warehouse were a loss in the fire but that building, now the Ashland company store, only received minor damage and was repaired.
