Bramwell High School Class '52 classmate Benjy "Benny" Profitt passed away on October 30, 2015 at Fairfax Hospital in Virginia at the age of 81. Benny was known for his many contributions to sports in the late 1940s while attending BHS. He stared in both basketball and football. Many would agree that Benny was perhaps the most talented athlete to ever attend Bramwell High School. He went on to excell in playing football while attending Concord University in Athens, WV. Benny attended Beaver High School in Bluefield, WV his senior year. He served four years in the Navy and graduated from Concord University. He taught school in both West Virginia and later in Fairfax County, Vriginia until he retired several years ago. Benny was a friend to everyone who knew him. He never met a stranger. As some would say "a room would light up" when Benny entered. How true are the many stories about my friend Benny. He was my friend for a lifetime, over 60 years. We played together as youths. He was raised near my home in Bramwell, WV. Benny visited my farm in Amissville, VA many times to deer hunt and racoon hunt with his dog "Old Blue". One year Benny was having trouble getting a deer. I told him "I will get you your deer", so I took him to a back field on the farm on my golf cart. While Benny was sitting on the golf cart he shot his deer. We both laughed so hard about this experience. There are hundreds of great memories of Benny. We loved this guy.
