The Visit of Mr. Bear

Black Bear comes to Autumn Haze Farm - 25 May 1999

This black bear weights approximately 400 lbs. and is probably an adult male because of the large size. He was seen visiting the Autumn Haze Farm during the late evening hours of 25 May 1999. It is believed that the bear has a den close by because he has been seen in the area by others and there are signs of previous visits to the farm throughout this Spring. While it is common to see signs of bears here, it is uncommon to see one this large in the open and so close to the Farm House. At the time the picture was taken this bear was stalking the Autumn Haze Farm "Guineas" birds and quite a noise was heard coming from the guineas. However, they did not retreat from the area.
