Historic Grigsby Cemetery - Rt. 637, South Poes Rd. Amissville, VA

The Grigsby Cemetery located on South Poes, Rt. 637, Amissville, VA. It is the burial ground for 20 or so of the local people who were born in the late 1800s and lived their live out here in this farming community. Some of the graves are presently unmarked and there exists only one remaining "Cross" tombstone. Originally there were two graves marked with the marble crosses. One cross was broken off and destroyed during mowing in about 1998. It is believed that it marks the grave of Wesley Peyton. The second cross probably marked the grave of Bertha Peyton. The Peytons lived just across the road from the cemetery on what is now called Autumn Haze Farm.
