The beautiful cake served as the centerpiece for the 50th reunion of Bramwell High School's Class of'49. The reunion was held at the Little Italy Restaurant in Bluefield, Virginia on 26 June, 1999. A total of 30 people attended with 13 being members of the 1949 graduating BHS Class. Once again Joan Doughton served as chairperson of this wonderful event; completing 30 years as chairperson for all of Class '49reunions. Joan's outstanding contributions to these reunions is deserving of high praise and she is to be commended for here fforts. Assisting Joan as co-chairperson was Jean Mitchem Gaither. Jean is also to be commended for her contributions to this successful reunion.

Now for that cake that you see here. Molly Clark Gross was responsible for construction of this five tier beauty as well as being in charge of overall decorations.Her efforts greatly enhanced the atmosphere at this reunion.Along with Molly, Beaulah Dale did an outstanding job indeveloping the Class '49 Booklet - "Memories 1949 -1999". Beaulah was also the host speaker for the evening and was exceptionally entertaining and informative.

A memorial service was held for each of thedeceased class members. A yellow rose was placed in a vase as names of individuals were called. They included: Leon Crome, Harry Davis, Paul Davis, Bill Gibson, Glendon Hicks, Barbara Johnson Carner, Mabel Miller Lineberry, Don Murphy, Charles Palco, Janice Shrader Glass and Virginia Sutphin Gabris.

Ward Cole, BHS Class '51, was present at this reunion and received special recognition for his long term contributions in developing an alumni data base for Bramwell High School graduates. This data base consists of over 2400 BHS graduates names and over 2300 current addresses. Ward has done an outstanding job on this task and was commended for his efforts.

The Bramwell High School Class '49 Motto:"Good Better Best, Never Let It Rest, Until Good Is Better and Better Is Best", was still remembered by the attending BHS Class '49 graduates.
