Curtis Dale Helmondollar, 82 of Rock passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, with his family by his side. Curtis was born April 23, 1935 in Squire, WV and was the son of the late James E & Ruby Shrader Helmondollar. He was a 1954 graduate of Bramwell High School. He was a 70-plus year member of the Montcalm Church of Christ, where he faithfully attended until the time of his death. Curtis worked as an on-the-road salesman throughout his adult life.
An avid sports fan, Curtis could be found at all types of sporting events, from his grandchildren’s activities, to high school games, to collegiate and local Appalachian League baseball. In addition to his parents, Curtis was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Ray Helmondollar and J.E. “Eddie” Helmondollar Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Virginia Elmore Helmondollar. Children: Lorna (Gerrall) Conner of Princeton, WV, Ronnie (Lisa) Helmondollar of Grafton, WV, Lisa (Greg) Pruett of Princeton, WV, Patty (Justin) Douthat of Bluefield, VA, and Michael (Kim) Helmondollar of Princeton, WV. Seven grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Jennifer Pruett, Conor Douthat, Matthew Helmondollar, James Helmondollar, Rebecca Pruett, Isabel Douthat, and Owen Helmondollar. Brothers: Donald Helmondollar of Bluefield, WV, and Willis Helmondollar of Rocky Gap, VA. Sister-in-laws: Shirley Helmondollar of Bluefield, WV and Rosemary Helmondollar of Emma, KY.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires funeral Chapel in Bluewell with Minister Rick Mathena and Tim Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Monday from 6-8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Montcalm Church of Christ, P.O. Box 576, Montcalm ,WV 24737
