Elizabeth (Betty) Arrington Spence, 92, of Princeton, died December 19, 2016. Born August 4, 1924 at Rock, she was the daughter of the late Vernie Jefferson Arrington (1892-1968) and Cora Dellar Long-Arrington (1900-1951). Betty graduated from Bramwell High School and McLain Business College.
Her life work experience included Timekeeper at Triumph Explosives, Elkton, MD during World War II; Sewing Machine Operator at Maidenform, Princeton for 15 years; Purchasing and Accounts Payable in the Bookeeping Department for the Southern WV Regional Health Council for 10 years; and retiring from First Baptist Church, Princeton where she was a Secretary for 12 years.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, James Newton Arrington (1922-2007), Roy Lee Arrington (1926-1940) and John Henry Arrington (1928-1929) & Earnest Allen Arrington (1937-2001); one sister, Bertha Bird Arrington (1931-1931); and her sister-in-law, Lois Susan Allen-Arrington (1925-2009). Betty is survived by her two daughters, Mary Spence-Richmond and husband, Tom Richmond, of TN and Darlene Spence-Mueller and husband, Rolf Mueller, of NC; grandchildren, Teresa Conway and Michael Murphy II, of Charleston, and Scott Mueller of NC; great-grandson, Ian Conway, of Charleston; sister-in-law, Jane Arrington, of Princeton; niece, Rebecca Sanders and husband Mike Sanders of Princeton; nephews, Roy Arrington and wife Debbie Arrington of OH; Allen Arrington and wife Lynn Arrington of OH; great nieces, Savannah Arrington of Princeton and Amanda Arrington of OH; great nephews, Weston Sanders of Princeton and Darrell Arrington of OH. She is also survived by dear friends, Tommy and Brenda Thomason of Princeton, WV.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating.
