Frank Stephenson "Pete" Hewitt, Age 84 of Georgetown, DE passed away Sunday, December 21, 2003 at home. The son of Richard and May C. Blanton Hewitt, he graduated from Mullen's High School in 1937. After graduation he attended Fork Union Military Academy, Fork Union, VA from 1937-1939. He attended West Virginia University from 1939 to early 1942 until he was drafted into the Army. He served with the 43rd General Hospital Unit in World War II, and saw action in Africa, Italy and France. After discharge from the Army, he went back to school at West Virginia University in 1946 and obtained his BS degree in education and a master's degree in education in 1948. He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity of W.V.U. He began his teaching career in Bramwell High School in 1949, where he taught from 1949-1954. He then moved to DE and worked for the Georgetown Special School District, which became the Indian River School District and retired in 1983 after 29 years. He was a member of the Wesley U.M. Church in Georgetown, where he was also a member of the Grumpy Old Men's Club. He was also a member of the Sussex Post #8, Georgetown Kiwanis and Georgetown V.F.W. Post. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen Carpenter Hewitt; son, Richard F. Hewitt of Wilmington, DE; daughter, Maryianne Hewitt of San Francisco, CA; and granddaughter, Jesse Hewitt of San Francisco, CA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a baby brother. Service 1 pm on Saturday, December 27 at Ingram Funeral Home, 512 Second St., St. Mary's, WV. Friends may call after 12 noon. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, St. Mary's, WV. A memorial service will be held January 18, at 1 pm at Wesley U.M. Church, East Laurel St., Georgetown, DE.
