Georgia White Bange
Georgia Bange July 17, 1930 - April 09, 2009:
A former schoolteacher in Fairfax County, a licensed professional counselor and businesswoman, Georgia Bange, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 9, 2009. Georgia lived in Loudoun County since 1972, having come to Northern Virginia in the mid "50s.
A graduate of Concord University (formerly College), and the University of Maryland she had done studies at University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and much continuing education over the last twenty years.
After leaving teaching in 1984, Ms. Bange was active in Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, doing grief and loss counseling for families as the need arose. She considered her work in support groups for Widowed, Separation and Divorce, and Dealing with Life's Losses her calling. Bange was a founding director of the Bank of Loudoun, which after several mergers is now a part of Wachovia Bank.
She was a charter member of the Leesburg Rotary Daybreak, a past state president of the Business and Professional Woman,s organization and a past member of the Leesburg Town Council. She was a Board Member of the Loudoun Salvation Army, the Loudoun Restoration and Preservation Society, a past board member of the Industrial Chaplains Ministry, a member of the Boards of the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, the Red Cross, the United Way and the Victim Witness Program.
She was actively involved with the Leesburg United Methodist Church. She was the past president of the Methodist Women and the past chair for the Council on Ministries. She became Lay Leader for the church.
She was born in Kimball, West Virginia to Vester and Virginia Sizemore White, who precede her in death. Her only brother, Donald White also preceded her in death in 1998. Left to cherish her memories are her sister-in-law Virginia "Ginny" White of Charles Town, WV; Niece Janet White of Charles Town, WV; nephews David White of Charles Town, WV and Jim White of PA; 3 great nieces and a great nephew, uncle Ernest White of PA and aunt Elizabeth Hall of Bluefield, WV.
Bange always said that birth and death were insiginficant. In that she was ageless. Family and friends are invited to share in the stories and memories of the life of Georgia at the Leesburg United Methodist Church, 107 W. Market St., Leesburg, VA 20175 on April 25, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Following the gathering of memories, a memorial service will be held in her honor at the church starting at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be sent to the Leesburg United Methodist Church 107 W. Market St. Leesburg, VA 20175 or the Salvation Army of Loudoun County, P.O. Box 47, Leesburg, VA 20178
