SISTERS FROM
GOODWILL

Ralph
Carner is a 1939 graduate of Bramwell High
School. He was raised in Goodwill, WV and was
featured in a article written about Goodwill in
the Bluefield Daily Telegraph by Samantha Perry
in 1996. His is also in this Web site's
"Out-Of-The-Attic" photograph of the
1939 BHS graduating class. No doubt the two
sisters, Dorothy Garrett and Vilda Gundisch, and
many of the children pictured in front of the
Goodwill School were also graduates of Bramwell
High School. The story in the BLD emphasized
life's experiences in the Goodwill coal mining
camp in the early 1900s.
Many of these
Goodwill Grade School children would have
attended Montcalm School and spent their
junior/senior years at Bramwell High School. This
late 1950s photograph of the Goodwill children
was made when they were sitting on the Louisville
Company Store steps. The
two girls that are sitting on the far left are
Walter Gilmore's daughters Rita and
Roxanne. Roxanne is married to Paul Delida;
the present pastor of the Church of Christ in
Bramwell.
