BRAMWELL HIGH SCHOOL CLASS '53

IN MEMORY OF JAMES F. HICKS

James "Jimmy" F. Hicks, 72, of Wolcott, CT died on Saturday, December 30, 2006, at his home with his wife and daughter by his side. Jimmy graduated from Bramwell High School in Bramwell, Mercer County, WV in 1953. He excelled in sports and was a letterman and captain of the football, basketball and track teams of Bramwell High School.

Jimmy had been a resident of Connecticut since 1954 and of Wolcott since 1964. He was a former employee of Raskin Farm in Marion and later worked for the state of Connecticut. He was the owner of Brass City Liquors and the Daisy Luncheonette, both located in Waterbury.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and was known as a true southern gentleman and friend to many. His hobbies included working with his hands, fixing things for everyone and working in his garden. He enjoyed UConn basketball and NASCAR racing.

Jimmy was born December 25, 1934 in Kimball to the late Lee T. Hicks (Deceased) and Alma May Tolley-Hicks (1912-2001). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Ruth Hicks-Sexton (1930-2001); two infant sisters; and an infant brother. Jimmy is survived by his wife Mary Kerwin-Hicks; and his sisters, Shirley Hicks-Agee, Connie Hicks-Blanco, Brenda Hicks-Belloso, LInda Hicks-Jefferson, and Jennifer Hicks-Umland.
