Bluefield Daily Telegraph: Kenneth H. Howell, 77, of Dade City, Fla., formerly of Roanoke, Va., passed peacefully on Tuesday, June 22, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Betty. She is survived by sons, David and Jeff; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson; sisters, Carol and Nancy; and a brother, Harlan. Born in Montcalm, W.Va., Kenneth, or Bear as most people knew him, served in the military before retiring from a career with the Roanoke City Police Department. Funeral services was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Oakey's North Chapel with the Reverend Elmo McLaurin officiating. The interment followed in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.
