Marguerite A. Brown, 88 of 10 Crown Point in Princeton died Friday, August 15, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born in Princeton May 28, 1926 she was the daughter of J.K. and Anna Lee Nelson Hinty. She retired from the Mercer County School System with 32 years of service as an educator. Her last teaching position was Princeton Junior High School. Marguerite was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Princeton. In 2011 when the church celebrated 100 years in the same location, she was recognized as the longest living member. Marguerite served the church in many capacities. She was particularly interested in programs concerning children, education, missions and prayer and they all benefited from her passion and dedication. She was a graduate of Princeton High School and earned her Degree in Education from Concord University. Throughout her teaching career she continued her education with courses from West Virginia University. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed Ladies Golf at Fincastle Country Club for several years. She also enjoyed early morning water aerobics at the Princeton Health and Fitness Center. Marguerite and her husband, Bus, were loyal fans of West Virginia University Athletics. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” Huddle. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, William Marion "Buster" Brown of Princeton; one son, Dr. William M. “Bill” Brown, Jr. and his wife Jamie of Greensboro, NC; three daughters, Susan Brown Lohin and her husband Donald of Wellesley, MA, Katherine “Kakie” Brown Magann of Madison, MS and Judy Brown Long and her husband David of Greensboro, NC; eleven grandchildren, Alexandria “Allie” Brown, Peter Brown, Jonathan Lohin and his wife Missy, Michael Lohin, Amanda Lohin, Patrick Michael Magann and his wife Victoria, Chris Magann and his wife Katherine, Melissa Magann, Brian Long, Katherine Long and Elizabeth Long; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Sechrest of Greensboro, NC and her five children. In addition her life was enhanced by many dear and loving friends, including special attention and care by longtime physician and friend, Dr. Abdul Piracha, and caregiver Jan Pedigo. Services to celebrate the life of Marguerite Brown will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Princeton with Rev. Scott Sears officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Grandsons and nephew, Dr. John Burton will serve as pallbearers. Contributions to honor the memory of Marguerite may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 304, Princeton, WV 24740 and will be directed to the “Feeding Hungry Children” program. Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, August 18, 2014 and at the church one hour prior to services.
