CHARLES RUDY PERKINS, BHS CLASS '50
Arnold Rudolph ?Rudy? Perkins BLUEFIELD ? Arnold ?Rudy? Perkins, 75, of Route 3, Box 410, Bluefield, left this world on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 4:00 a.m. to go to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rudy was born on March 24, 1932 in Montcalm. He was the son of the late William C. and Cora Knuckles Perkins.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, William A. and James E. Perkins; and a sister, Evelyn Penturff. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 54 years, Lois Wooten Perkins of the home; his brother, Clayton Perkins and wife Kathern of Princeton; his sisters, Patricia Eller and Barbara Nell Perkins of Montcalm; a son, Roger D. Perkins and wife Barbara of Cumming, Ga.; a daughter, Amy Sams and husband David of Maynardsville, Tenn.; three grandsons, Anthony Sams, Josh Perkins, and Caleb Perkins; a granddaughter, Rachael Sams.He is also survived by the entire church family at Lorton Lick Baptist Church where Rudy served as a Deacon for 32 years.
He also served on the Board of Trustees, taught Sunday School Adult Class for 25 years and served as song leader and moderator for many years. He was a Korean War Veteran and served as a surgical nurse during his service. He loved gardening, playing golf, and fishing with his grandchildren. He was a great friend to all of mankind and animals. He had worked at J.C. Penney?s for a total of 39 years.
Friends may visit at the Lorton Lick Baptist Church on the Lorton Lick Road on Friday (today), July 27 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the church on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Shawn Bragg will be in charge of the service. Carla Bragg will be in charge of the music. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where pallbearers will be men of the church. Military Graveside Honors will be performed by the West Virginia Honor Guard. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the church building fund: Lorton Lick Baptist Church, Rt. 3, Box 501-A-1, Bluefield, WV 24701.
