William Petty is the founder, author and editor of "Historic Bramwell" Web Site. The site compiles historical materials about southern
West Virginia coal towns & communities. William "Bill" Petty is a 1953 graduate of Bramwell High School, Bramwell, WV.
Bill started the development of the Historic Bramwell website in 1999 to document the history of Historic Bramwell, WV, which was once a prominent "millionaire coal town," to preserve the town's heritage for former residents and historians. He received explicit permission from Martha Jane Becker to use material from her book Bramwell: The Diary of a Millionaire Coal Town" on this new website.
She was a West Virginia native and a former English teacher at Bramwell High School.
