HISTORIC BRAMWELL AUTHOR
William Petty is the founder, author and editor of "Historic Bramwell" Web Site. The site compiles historical materials about southern
West Virginia coal towns & communities. William "Bill" Petty is a 1953 graduate of Bramwell High School, Bramwell, WV.

Bill started the development of the Historic Bramwell website in 1999 to document the history of Historic Bramwell, WV, which was once a prominent "millionaire coal town," to preserve the town's heritage for former residents and historians. He received explicit permission from Martha Jane Becker to use material from her book Bramwell: The Diary of a Millionaire Coal Town" on this new website. She was a West Virginia native and a former English teacher at Bramwell High School.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to William Petty, BHS Class of '53, for maintaining the most comprehensive online archives of Bramwell's rich history. From historic photos to pioneering family stories, his dedication has preserved our town's heritage for all to access. We're grateful for his generosity in allowing The Bramwell Foundation to share this invaluable material, helping us continue our mission to protect Bramwell's legacy.

Bill Petty's archives are considered comprehensive and are readily available online through theHistoric Bramwell website.
This suggests a broad range of visual documentation representing Bramwell's unique historical journey.
