Crane Creek is a coal camp in western Mercer County, West Virginia where the American Coal Company operated the Crane Creek coal mine. In the early 1900s the Crane Creek community grew rapidly and had a company store iin 1902 and coal tipple.

The creek was named after a crane that was killed near it. 

Location: Crane Creek is a tributary of the Bluestone River. 

During a flood in 1924, Crane Creek overflowed its banks.
