In Memory of Bramwell High School Class '46 Classmate
GORDON DAVID BUTT
ELKINS, WV - Gordon David Butt, 72, of 265 Freguson Rd., Elkins, formerly of Pinnacle Rock, Freeman, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Mr. Butt had been a resident of Elkins for five years and was retired from Griffin Pie Company as a supervisor where he worked for 38 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict, and was a graduate of Bramwell High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles B. Butt; and two sisters, Bertie Johnson and Helen G. Butt. Survivors include a son, Michael Butt and special friend, Margie Herter, of Elkins; a daughter, Vickie Dunbar and husband, Larry, of Union; a sister, Nannie Taylor andhusband, Daniel, of Bluefield; three brothers, John G. Butt, Jr. and wife, Doris, of Freeman, Austin W. Butt and wife, Mildred, of Nemours, and Allen C. Butt of Rt. 3 in Bluefield; a sister in law, Peggy Butt of Louisville, KY.; and two grandchildren, Megan Whited of Union and Jessica Pearson of St. Augustine, Fla.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at the Cravens Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. James Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Courthouse Rd. in Princeton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 9 p.m.The Sandy River District American Legion Post I175 and the Mercer County Veterans Council will conduct military graveside rites.
