Helen Ann Huffman Spicer, wife of William Dorin Spicer, Sr. was the mother of the late William Dorin "Mickey" Spicer, Jr. and Pat Spicer Smith . Helen was born on February 9, 1925 in the rural Pinnacle Hollow Section of Thomas/McComas, West Virginia. Helen graduated from McComas High School in 19Sp3. She then traveled to Baltmore, Maryland, where she was employed by the Martin Bomber Plant during WW II. In 1946 Helen married William Dorin Spicer, Sr. and returned to WV. In 1954 she received her Accounting Degree and became a book-keeper for the Singer Sewing Machine Company in Bluefield, WV. Three years later, in July 1957 cancer took Helen's life at the age of 32. Her funeral was conducted at the historic McComas Methodist Church.
After Helen's death her two young children, Mickey and Patty were raised by her beloved Mother, Cora Mae Stevens Huffman in McComas,WV.
Helen Ann Huffman Spicer will always be remembered as a loving mother who loved people.
Pat Spicer Smith authored a popular web site that featured the McComas,WV commuity for many years. Pat was born in McComas and promoted the town through her many postings.
