BHS 1948 HOMECOMING QUEEN
Miss Peggy Stacey
The top photograph is from the 1948 Bramwell High School Homecoming parade on Main Street in Historic Bramwell,West Virginia . Miss Peggy Stacey was the Homecoming Queen that year and is shown in the center of the car. The car was a "Jeepster"; built by the Willys Company and was a sport version of the World War II Jeep. This vehicle was auctioned off to raise money for the school. It was won by the Harris family who ran the grocery store at Shinbriar,WV. It is important to mention that Bramwell High School beat Graham High School ( 44 to 7 ) at the 1948 homecoming football game. That was considered a major upset in football for the entire state of WV. It was one of the worst football losses that Graham High School had ever received . |
