ISAIAH WELCH SHRADER
FORTY FIVE YEAR EMPLOYEE OF BUCKEY COAL & COKE COMPANY
Isaiah Welch Shrader, 76, of Freeman, died Tuesday ( Apr. 11, 1961 ) morning in Bluefield Sanitarium following a 2-week illness.
A lifelong resident of the area, he was a son of Henderson and Mary Shrader. He was a retired coal miner and he had been an employee of the Buckeye Coal & Coke Co. for 45 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of UMWA, Local 5997; of Red Men; and of Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Flora Shrader; seven sons: Fred, Grayson, Aubrey, Richard, and James Shrader of Freeman; Lewis and Cecil Shrader of Columbus,Ohio; three daughters: Mrs. Donald Woods of Beckley, Mrs. S. W. May of Silver Springs, Md., and Mrs. Harry Cole of Charleston; and 10 grandchildren. ...Three brothers: Erie and Armur Shrader of Freeman, and Hedley Shrader of Florida; three sisters: Miss Lorde Shrader of Freeman, Mrs. Otto Wright, of Rock, and Mrs. Blanche Davis of Rocky Mount, Va., also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Bramwell Methodist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Don Cale will officiate, and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery[Bluewell, Mercer County, West Virginia]. ...Pallbearers will be Edgar Mabe, S.S. Queen,,W.P. Clark, Clarence Hicks, Mason Sexton, George Palco, and A.L. Poteet. ...Women of the Church will carry flowers. ...The body will remain at Mercer Funeral Home where friends may call after noon Wednesday, and it will be placed in the church an hour prior to the service.
