SERVICES SET MONDAY FOR ACCIDENT VICTIM Services will be conducted Monday, November 27, at 2 pm , for James Roger ‘Jim' Brown, 16, of Maybeury, who died Friday, November 24, in a Bluefield hospital from injuries sustained in a head-on automobile accident last Sunday, by the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. The accident occurred at approximately 12;01 am, Sunday on U.S.52 near Bramwell. David Michael Hays, 27, of Havaco was traveling south when he struck Brown's vehicle head-on. Brown was taken to a Bluefield hospital when he was listed as being in critical condition Tuesday evening. State Trooper, R.D. Faulkner, said that further charges may be added to the driving under the influence of alcohol charge presently against Hays, pending the completion of his investigation. Rev. Olen Robertson and Rev. Arbogast will be officiating the services with entombment to follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum at Bluewell. Born April 11, 1962, at Bluefield, he was the son of Betty Fowler Brown of Maybeury and the late Clarence Gaither Brown, who died December 21, 1968. Brown was an eleventh grade student of Bramwell High School, was an outstanding basketball player on the school team, was a member of the school band, and the Key Club. He also ran track, work for the school offices for the principal, was a former employee of Hill's Department Store, and was a member of the Church of God faith. Survivors in addition to his mother; he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Troy (Debbie) Orlick of Maybeury and Mrs. Eugene (Judy) Patrick of Maybeury; one brother, Bill Brown of Freeman; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Fred ( Venie) Fowler of Canebrake, Va., maternal great grandmother, Mrs. Ocie Harrison of Clintwood, Va., two nieces and two nephews also survive. Pallbearers will be Coach Robert Wray, Coach Charlie Brisco, Tommy Perry, John Keczan, Duane Thaxton, and Chuck Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Abel, M.B. Guyton, Dennis Buckner, and members of the Bramwell High School basketball team and members of the eleventh grade class of Bramwell High School. Friends may call at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell today from 9-5 pm. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is in charge of arrangements.
