Janie Louise Farmer Monk, 81, of Princeton,WV was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 16, 2018. Janie was a lifelong resident of southern West Virginia, where she was born and raised on Coaldale Mountain with her eleven siblings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Farmer and Edith Walker-Farmer. Janie graduated from Bramwell High School, married and began caring for and creating her big, beautiful family. She was a devoted wife to John Henry Monk and a loving mother to all her children. Janie and John raised their children in Pineville (White Oak Hollow). She provided a loving Christian home for her children, Teresa Ann, Donald “Ed” Edgar, Betty Jo, John Alfred “Little John,” Deborah Lee, Pamela Dee, Vivian Anita, Brenda Joan, Janice Sue and William “Bill” Leslie. Janie was dedicated to faith, family and friends. She delighted in time with her grandchildren and was often comforted and uplifted by visits from her granddaughter, Valerie. Janie enjoyed assisting friends in need, cooking, gardening, canning, sewing, quilt making, music, reading, crossword puzzles and Scrabble. Mom, you were our shining star on Earth and you will continue to guide us with the brighter light of your heavenly star. We miss you. Signed – Your Big Beautiful Family.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Joey Wright of Devine Hope Ministry in Princeton. Interment will be at a later date at Iaeger Cemetery in Roderfield. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
