KERMIT BLIZZARD

Kermit Blizzard, 89, of the Glenwood Retirement Village, Princeton died Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at his residence. Born August 28. 1928 in Coaldale, he was the son of the late Claude W. Blizzard, Sr. and Mozelle Wood Blizzard. Kermit was educated in Coaldale and Bramwell. He entered business with his father C.W. Blizzard, Sr. in Coaldale and later became the president of Blizzard’s Inc., a mine supply business which he operated until its sale in the mid-1970’s. Kermit then went on to develop properties in Bluefield and continued to remain active for many years.

Kermit Blizzard was a member of Cumberland Heights Baptist Church in Bluefield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life whom he married on July 9, 1949, Wada Lucia Crawford Blizzard, one brother, Claude W. Blizzard, Jr., a daughter-in-law Vicki Blizzard, and great-granddaughter Macey Whittaker. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Barry Blizzard and wife Jill of Princeton; two granddaughters, Aimee Bolton and husband Jeff and Emilie Whittaker and husband Garret all of Princeton; five great-grandchildren, Gavin, Hudson and Zoe Bolton and Ellie and Jace Whittaker; three sisters, Lolas Brown and her late husband Ralph of Virginia Beach VA, Beulah Radt and husband Richard of Richmond VA, and Lena Riley and her late husband John of Bluefield; Several nieces and nephews.

For a wonderful life well lived, a service of celebration will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 3, 2018 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Jim Kestner officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of the Wildwood Mausoleum, Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Abel Pregnancy Resource Center, 201 Sylvia Street, Bluefield, WV 24701. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Bolton, Garret Whittaker, Curtis Radt, Kenny Mandeville, Jay Barringer and Joe Simmons. The Blizzard Family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.

Kermit's wife, Wada Lucia Crawford Blizzard was born on March 3, 1929. She died on October 25, 2017 Princeton, West Virginia. Wada Lucia Crawford Blizzard, 88, of Princeton, died peacefully Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born March 3, 1929 in McComas, she was the daughter of the late Marshall & Ora Hall Crawford.

Wada Lucia Crawford Blizzard, 88, of Princeton, WV died peacefully Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born March 3, 1929 in McComas, she was the daughter of the late Marshall & Ora Hall Crawford.

Educated in McComas, Wada worked alongside her husband Kermit as they built their business in addition to being a loving mother and caretaker for her mother and family. She was a member of the Cumberland Heights Baptist Church in Bluefield.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death sisters Violet Gaither & husband Reginald, Marie Conner & husband Ray, brother Jack Crawford & wife Margie along with a daughter in law, Vicki Blizzard and a great granddaughter Macey Whittaker. Those left to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband whom she married on July 9, 1949 in Bluefield, Floyd Kermit Blizzard, son Barry Blizzard & wife Jill of Princeton, granddaughters Aimee Bolton & husband Jeff, Emilie Whittaker & husband Garret, all of Princeton, five great grandchildren Gavin, Hudson & Zoe Bolton, Ellie and Jace Whittaker.
