IN MEMORY OF LEO WAYNE SMITH
Leo Wayne Smith, a recently discharged Marine from Mercer County became McDowell County's 15th traffic victim when he was killed in a one-car accident in Upland early Saturday (Nov. 3, 1962). He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Stevens Clinic in Welch shortly after the 5 a.m. accident. Survivors include his parents, Mr.& Mrs. Otis Smith of Coopers; four brothers, Cecil Smith and Brady Smith of Fayetteville, N.C., Donald Smith of Elkhart, In. and Jerry Smith of the home; and a sister Connie Smith of the home. Funeral services will be conducted at the Coopers Methodist Church on November 5, with the Rev. W.P. Eastwood officiating. The body will be moved to the residence today at 1 p.m. and to the church 1 hour prior to the service. Pocahontas Union Funeral Home, Pocahontas, Va. is in charge of the services.
