School year for 1968 was the final year that Dwight W. McCormick served as principal of Bramwell High School. He had served as principal of BHS for 33 years.
This photograph is of BHS principal, D.W. McCormick attending the BHS graduation cermonies in 1964. This was the first graduation held in the new D. J. Sexton Gymnasium that was constructed in the early 1960s.

Dwight W. McCormick Death Notice - June 4, 1977:
Funeral services for Dwight William McCormick, 73, of Houston, Tx. and formerly of Bramwell who died Wednesday, June 1, 1977 will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bramwell Presbyterian Church with Dr. C. H. Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Bluewell. A veteran educator, McCormick was born February 22, 1904 in Waiteville, a son of the late W. L. and Josie Williams McCormick. He had been a resident of Houston for the past nine months and was a member and elder of the Bramwell Presbyterian Church. A graduate of Gap Mills High School, he attended Alderson Baptist College and graduated from Concord College, later receiving a Master's Degree from Duke University.
He served as a teacher at Waiteville Elementary School and principal at Paint Bank Virginia Junior High, Jenkinjones Elementary and Bramwell High School, holding the latter position for 33 years until his retirement in 1968. McCormick accepted a position with Bluefield State College as director of a remedial program and later served as director of the Bluefield State College Foundation.
He was preceded by one brother and one sister. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Martha Elwood McCormick of Houston; one daughter, Mrs. H. L. (Jane) Harrell of Houston; and one grandson. Active pallbearers will be Edward Niswander, Vester Johnson, Bill Norton, Bill Moore, Gordon Short, Paul Davis, Tucker Butt and Harless Cook. Elders of Bramwell Presbyterian Church at Gideons will be honorary pallbearers. Friends may call at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell today from 5 until 9 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the service.
