BRAMWELL HIGH SCHOOL CLASS '44

In Memory of: Noble Mason Raines, Jr

Noble Mason Raines, Jr., passed away November 18, 2015 at his home in Beaver, WV. He was born in Princeton, WV on March 14, 1926 to Noble Raines, Sr. and Mary Etta Stafford Raines.

He attended Montcalm Elementary, Montcalm Junior High, and graduated from Bramwell High School in 1944. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and went to Great Lakes for training. He attained a rank of 2nd Classmate as an Electronics Technician. Mr. Raines graduated from Concord College in 1948. In 1953 he received a Master’s Degree in Violin from Columbia University in New York.

Noble married JoAn Shupe (BHS Class '44) on July 11, 1946. She preceded him in death in 2014. The Lord blessed their union with two children; a son, Stephen and a daughter, Mary Ruth. He taught band for 31 years in Mercer County, WV and tuned pianos all over Southern West Virginia and Southwestern Virginia for over 50 years. Survivors include his children, Stephen Raines and wife Debbie of Girard, Illinois, and Mary Ruth Razmandi and husband Mehdi of Houston, Texas; three grandsons, David Raines and wife Casey of Carlinville, Illinois, Michael Razmandi and wife Kelsey of Houston, Texas, and Mark Razmandi of Houston, Texas; brother, Fred Raines of Princeton, West Virginia; and sisters, Mary Lou Jones and Etta Sue Emmerett, both of Princeton.

The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Monday, November 23, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Smithson offi- ciating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. Our fallen classmates still live in our hearts and memories. They shared the dreams of all of us. Their departure may separate us physically but not spiritually.
