Robert "Bob" Byrd (February 18, 1936 - August 25, 2010)

Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Byrd 74 of Grapeland, Texas were held at 10:00 AM Saturday at Evergreen Chapel, with the Rev. Kenny Bush officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster. Mr. Byrd passed away Wednesday at his residence. He was born February 18, 1936 in Crites, West Virginia to Albert and Mary Toth Byrd. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam war.

Mr. Byrd was employed with NASA in communications and then Western Electric as a Supervisor. He owned and operator Byrd Country Store for 30 plus years.

Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Stella Shaw and Bertha Coffee, three brothers; Jim, Steve and Albert Byrd. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Charlene “Tooter” Byrd of Grapeland,Texas and a brother John Byrd of Coleman, Al.

Pallbearers were Gwen Lively, Tom Dillard, Danny Harbor, Tommy Sullivan, Joe Daniels and Jim Lawrance. Honorary pallbearers were James Horton, Joe Mitchell and Charley Neal.
