The "former" Rivers Bend Bed & Breakfast was originally the home of Jairus Collins, a coal baron who owned 6 mines. This house is a brick and frame vernacular style home located on South River Street in Bramwell, West Virginia. This house was built in 1911 with another Jairus Collins historic house as shown below is located on Bramwell's Brick Street. It was built in 1903. |
This house is often referred to as the Biggs House. It has also been previously owned by the Richardsons, and Smiths. The Waller family also owned and lived in this house for about 10 years between the ownership of the Richardson and Smith famlies. This house was built in 1903 by coal baron Jairus Collins and is located on Brick Street in Bramwell. He built his second house on South River Street in 1911. The above house is wood framed with a cross gable roof and is of Vernacular Style. Is has eight rooms and is 3000 sq. ft. It was built by Jairus Collins (1859-1932) who moved to Bramwell in 1896. |
